OrCam MyEye is a wearable device that uses a smart camera that can help those who are legally blind or visually impaired.
The device can be used to help you see distance objects or objects closer to you. The device simply fits onto your current glasses frame. The technology that is used in the device is quite remarkable and has the ability to be used with any type of vision loss including severely profound vision loss.
Some examples of visual tasks that can be done using the OrCam device is reading a menu in a restaraunt, reading your mail, reading a book or newspaper, recognizing faces, recognizing certain products at a supermarket or drug store, and being able to pay when shopping by knowing the currency you are using to name a few. Without the ability to do these tasks your independence would decrease drastically.
Many of the programs use a simple point from your finger to activate the program to do what you want it to do. It also uses facial recognition to record faces to store for later use. This way you would be able to store your family and friends so that you will always know who they are when you see them. For the reading programs the device read aloud any text from any surface so that you will be able to read anything.
